Urgent! EBI Inspection Application and Process Engineer Position in Hiroshima - Micron

EBI Inspection Application and Process Engineer

Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

The primary mission of the ADTJ PIE RDA team is to achieve early yield improvement through defect reduction.

Rather than simply lowering defect levels, the team logically analyzes defect data to identify processes and defect types that significantly impact yield.

Based on these insights, the team collaborates with relevant departments to develop and drive improvement initiatives.

This role is not limited to the RDA group—it plays a critical part in managing defect reduction and yield enhancement across the entire F15 organization.

• SWR(Split Wafer Run)
• Global Conversion Process(GCP)やFast Follower(FF)による改善活動の推進
• Probe/Backend
• Sister Fab

To fulfill this mission, the team begins by reviewing and understanding the baseline, establishing appropriate monitoring indicators and methods.

It sets defect BIN targets and defines corresponding IDL (Inline Defect Loss) goals, actively participating in IDL task teams to work closely with other members.

The team continuously updates defect trends with predictive insights, identifies new improvement opportunities through analysis, and clarifies root causes of defects.

Partition analysis is used to pinpoint contributing factors, and evaluations are supported accordingly.

Speed is always a priority, and timely updates are essential.

The team maintains ongoing communication with other fabs and the TD (Technology Development) group, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of the latest inspection technologies.

Through these efforts, the team drives defect-focused initiatives to help achieve Yield targets.
This position involves utilizing Electron Beam Inspection (EBI) technology to detect and analyze microscopic defects in semiconductor manufacturing processes.

The engineer will contribute to yield improvement and quality enhancement by identifying electrical defects such as shorts and opens that are difficult to detect with optical inspection tools.

• Operate EBI tools for inspection and defect review
• Acquire and analyze defect maps to provide feedback to process teams
• Design, execute, and analyze Split Wafer Runs (SWR)
• Drive improvement activities through Global Conversion Process (GCP) and Fast Follower (FF) initiatives
• Collaborate with Probe and Backend teams for defect containment
• Share improvement cases with sister fabs
• Work with suppliers to enhance detection accuracy

While English is commonly used for daily communication, team members are expected to interact with colleagues who speak only Japanese.

Therefore, basic Japanese proficiency—or a willingness to learn—is important for effective collaboration.

Fluency is not required at the time of joining, but candidates should be prepared to engage in Japanese-language interactions as part of their role.
